They are graduates of the Academy of Music in Cracow. The artists who form the quartet have many individual achievements and valuable experiences. They are employed by Cracow orchestras (Capella Cracoviensis, Sinfonietta Cracovia), performing concerts with them as soloists and in chamber orchestras both in Poland and abroad. They also give lessons.

The idea to create the Sotto Voce String Quartet came during a six-month tour of Japan on the island of Hokkaido in 1998/99. This period was filled by innumerable concerts presenting both classical and popular music. During this time the Quartet also performed musical programs of an educational nature.

A passion for Japanese culture developed during this stay in the land of the rising sun. Among other things this has resulted in adding Japanese musical accents to the rich program.

Since its concert days before Japanese audiences the Sotto Voce String Quartet has been performing without interruption, presenting a wide repertoire from baroque to contemporary; from classical to popular music (film, pop, musicals).

The Sotto Voce string quartet has performed in many prestigious concert series, among others the Tyniec Organ Recitals, the International “Music in Old Cracow” Festival, the Albertine Concerts, and numerous times at the Evenings of Music at Salwator. It has also participated in a cyclical project organized by the Słowacki Theater in Kraków – “Scena przy Pompie” [“Stage by the Pump”], presenting a program of Argentinian tangos.

In 2004, the quartet was invited to collaborate in recording the disk “Nagie myśli” [“Naked Thoughts”], performed by Aida and Max Klezmer Band, published by Universal Music Group.

In addition to having a passion for music the members of the quartet are also interested in film, photography, art, sculpture, architecture, and education, although the most important for them is music, through which they give their listeners joy and pleasant moments.
